The Friends of Waiwhakareke are the unsung heroes of the natural heritage park. They are a group of passionate volunteers from a range of backgrounds who regularly come together to pitch in when work needs to be done at Waiwhakareke. That might be anything from potting plants to stomping down weeds, mending fences, removing trees and laying paths. Some of the Friends also lend a hand towards raising funds for new trees. The Friends are a friendly bunch and what work you do really depends on when you are available and what skills you have or how willing you are to learn! New members are very welcome. |
