In the heart of Hamilton, Waiwhakareke is New Zealand’s largest inland restoration project. Waiwhakareke is recreating the rare and endangered wetland once widespread in our region. It is bringing back the rare plants and wildlife that make it home and creating a rich environmental, educational and recreational experience for the city.

The Operative Management Plan represents Hamilton City Council’s proposal to the community on the park’s use, development and maintenance. The plan has been formed with input from the public to ensure that the park is managed to meet the expectations of the community.
